A shop worker has been left badly shaken following an armed robbery in County Tyrone.

The employee was locking up business premises on Drumenny Road in Cookstown when they were confronted by two men carrying knives last night.

The thieves covered their faces and demanded money before making off with a sum of cash at around 10.10pm.

Police are appealing for information.

Detective Constable Glasgow said the staff member escaped physical injury but has been left badly shaken as a result of the ordeal.

“The men are described as being around 5”10 in height, medium build and wearing dark clothing," he added.

“Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone with who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 1966 15/11/19.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
