Voters in West Tyrone return to the polls today after the resignation of Sinn Fein's Barry McElduff.

The MP stepped down earlier this year amid controversy over a video posted on social media.

Five candidates are standing in today's election - they are:

Sinn Fein -  Orla Begley

DUP - Thomas Buchanan

Alliance - Stephen Donnelly

SDLP - Daniel McCrossan

UUP - Chris Smyth

DOCUMENTS NEEDED TO VOTE

Chief Electoral Officer Virginia McVea explains what documents we'll need to vote:

About two-thirds of West Tyrone is rural but there are major employers in local towns.

For example: IT company Allstate NI, in Strabane, and ASDA in Omagh but political leaders want more investment west of the Bann.

About 40% of the businesses in the area are agriculture based.

The big issues affecting local people are Broadband just over 70% having access to a superfast service.

The Northern Ireland average is is more than 87 per cent.

Education is another big issue  only one school, Arvalee Special School has moved into the new education site in Omagh with work yet to begin on the other five schools due to move there.

Construction of the A5 is another issue local people want to see resolved.

Voting takes place between 7am and 10pm.
