Defending champions Linfield are top of the Danske Bank Premiership on goal difference with games in hand.

It’s after they beat Cliftonville 1-0 in the Belfast derby at Windsor Park on Saturday.

Both teams finished with 10 men - Liam Bagnall picking up his second yellow card for the Reds just before the hour mark and Linfield's Kirk Millar sent off in the closing stages, a straight red for a late challenge.

Defender Chris Casement scored the goal on 62 minutes. 

Blues boss David Healy says it was a big improvement from the 3-0 League Cup defeat against Coleraine mid-week...


And Healy's opened up about some strong words in the changing room after the cup exit. He says he "let the players have it..."

Coleraine are second after coming from 2-0 down at half-time to draw 2-2 with Glentoran at Ballycastle Road 

Overnight leaders Crusaders crashed to a 1-0 defeat at home to bottom six side Ballymena.

There were also wins for Larne, Dungannon Swifts and Carrick Rangers.

 

 

Glenavon host Carrick Rangers in a rearranged Premiership match on Tuesday night (7.45pm).

The Lurgan side crashed to a 6-2 defeat in the reverse fixture at Carrick on November 30th.

Niall Currie's team sit seventh in the standings, four points ahead of Glenavon in ninth.
