Linfield are back on top of the Danske Bank Premiership, a point clear after a 2-0 win away to Ards on New Year's Day.

Overnight leaders Ballymena crashed to their first defeat in 20 games, 3-2 at Crusaders.

Paul Heatley struck twice for Stephen Baxter's men, who are now in third place just two points behind the Sky Blues.

Glentoran lost 4-2 against Dungannon Swifts at the Oval and have now gone a club record 10 league matches without a win.

However, the Glens could be in line for a multi-million pounds windfall from an Iranian businessman with Belfast connections.
