Carrick Rangers are through to the Danske Bank Premiership promotion-relegation play-off after a 2-0 home win over Portadown last night.

It was a battle between the sides who finished second and third in the Championship.

Both goals came in the last 20 minutes - Adam McCallum with an o.g. before Stewart Nixon made sure in stoppage time.

For the east Antrim club's manager Niall Currie it was victory against his hometown team who sacked him last year...

Carrick host Ards in the play-off first leg on Friday, then travel to Bangor on Monday.

Glentoran have called a special shareholders meeting on the 16th of May to vote on a proposed takeover of the club.

It would mean a substantial investment from a consortium involving Head Coach Mick McDermott and a member of his management team, former Glens boss and player Paul Millar.

Early pacesetters Glentoran go to Sion Swifts in the Danske Bank Women's Premiership tonight.

Crusaders host Linfield and Cliftonville welcome Derry City.
