Former 'Stute player Paddy McLaughlin acted as assistant boss to Deery for the past two seasons, after finished his career as club captain at the Riverside.
The club says his appointment was a unanimous decision by the Institute board.
In a statement the club called it "a fitting appointment given Paddy's long term dedication to the club and his continued personal development as a senior coach."
'Stute missed out on promotion to the Danske Premiership following a 5-2 two-legged playoff defeat to Carrick Rangers earlier this month.
