There were shocks in the BetMcLean League Cup second round last night with two Premiership teams dumped out by lower league opposition.

Warrenpoint Town lost 4-2 at home to Harland and Wolff Welders, while Carrick went down 5-3 after extra time away to 10-man, third-tier Bangor.

Meanwhile, Championship promotion hopefuls Portadown were also on the wrong end of an upset, losing 2-1 at home to Dollingstown.

The leading Premiership sides made it through including Glentoran who beat Ballyclare 5-1 at the Oval with Jonny Frazer grabbing a 13-minute hat-trick in the first half.

There was also a treble for Ian Parkhill as Coleraine had a 4-0 home win over Annagh United.

Five-time winners Cliftonville scored a 3-1 victory at Moyola Park at the end of an emotional day for the club after Tommy Breslin's funeral.

Institute host PSNI in the cup tonight, with the tie switched to Limavady Showgrounds.
