Fears NI keeper Carson could face lengthy lay-off after developing blood clot

Northern Ireland goalkeeper Trevor Carson has been treated for a blood clot.

His club Motherwell says he'll be out of action for "an unspecified amount of time."


Portadown have released striker Darren Murray with immediate effect.

The Championship team's manager Matthew Tipton has claimed Murray couldn't commit fully to the demands of the club.

Ballymena United can go top of the Danske Bank Premiership on Friday night with a win away to Newry City (8pm).

The Sky Blues are sitting just a point behind leaders Linfield after their mid-week victory over Glentoran at the Showgrounds. 

Meanwhile, Glens boss Ronnie McFall is promising new faces at the Oval in the January transfer window.

The veteran manager says chairman Stephen Henderson has agreed at least three players are needed to boost the first team squad.

Coleraine have already done some business - defender Aaron Canning has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract extension with the club.
