Snapchat is hoping to save people from hair disasters by launching a new range of Snap Camera lenses that let users try out new hairstyles without the permanent results.
Hairdressers in the UK reopened on Monday (12.04.21) after spending months unable to operate because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and people around the country flocked to their nearest salon to receive much-needed trims.
And to save people from the embarrassment of a bad haircut, Snapchat has unveiled a new range of filters that work through Snap Camera which can let users see what they would look like with a brand new ‘do before the commit to it in the salon.
Interested parties first need to download Snap Camera on their PC or Mac at https://snapcamera.snapchat.com/download/ and then launch the app.
"No Finish Line", a Lens brought to life by artist Glenn Kaino, was created in collaboration with @LACMA to highlight how the stories of daily life come together to make history. Learn more about the Monumental Perspectives initiative: https://t.co/iuQFDU1uch pic.twitter.com/9zLv9hKrg9

Users will then be given the option to choose a hair-saving lens including a bob haircut, varying hair lengths, and different hair colours.
Once a lens has been chosen, users can just select Snap Camera as their webcam device in your video chat application, and can chat away to their friends or work colleagues whilst trialling their new look.
The new feature comes after it was reported last month that Snapchat is working on its own version of TikTok’s Duets, which they will call ‘Remix’.
Remixes will allow people to reply to Snaps from their friends by recording a response that will play alongside the original Snap.
The feature was launched into external testing in late March, but Snapchat has not yet announced when Remixes will receive a broader rollout.
