Murder investigation sparked days after man found dead in Portadown home

The Police Service of Northern Ireland has launched a murder investigation days after a 49-year-old man was found dead in his home in Portadown. 

The man's body was discovered in the Clounaugh Park area at around 9.45am on Monday, December 9th. 

A post mortem has since been conducted to establish how the man died. 

On Saturday evening police referred to subsequent information they had recieved as they launched a murder probe. 

A number of searches took place in the Portadown area on Saturday night where an 18 and 24 year old man were detained on suspicion of murder. 

Both remain in police custody and are said to be assisting police with their enquiries. 

Detective Chief Inspector Eamonn Corrigan said: "I want to appeal to anyone who was in the Clounagh Park area between 10.30pm on Sunday 8th December and 9.45am on Monday 9th to think back if they saw anything out of the ordinary.

"You may have seen people in Clounagh Park acting suspiciously. If you did, or if you have any information you think may help our investigation, please tell us by calling our detectives on 101."
