The Royal Victoria Hospital's move to a new intensive care unit has been delayed after a potentially deadly bacteria was found.
The Belfast Trust said Pseudomonas were found in the taps of the Critical Care Building.
No patients have been affected, but in 2012, the same bacteria killed three babies in the city's Royal Jubilee Hospital.
In a statement to Q Radio, the Belfast Trust said:
"We are disappointed that we are unable to move the Intensive Care Unit in to the Critical Care Building as scheduled. Our plans to move ICU into Level 5 and 6 of the building are delayed due to planned water testing which identified pseudomonas in taps.
"No patients have been put at risk as a result and ICU bed capacity remains unaffected.
"All necessary infection control measures are in place and remedial work is now underway.
"Belfast Trust will work to reschedule the move as soon as possible however this may depend on the prevalence of Covid-19 and its impact on services.
