Coleraine have moved to the top of the Danske Bank Premiership after beating Glenavon 4-2 at the Showgrounds on Saturday.

Darren McCauley struck twice with Josh Carson and Ciaron Harkin also on target for the Bannsiders who have won all five league games and sit three points above Linfield.

Glentoran are up to third place following their 2-0 home win over Warrenpoint Town.

Glens boss, former Coleraine player Gary Haveron says it's shaping up for an exciting season.

Curtis Allen opened the scoring at the Oval with a free-kick before new signing Robbie McDaid made the points safe.

John McGuigan didn't play after sustaining a head/neck injury mid-week but the Glens hope he'll be back for the trip to Linfield next Saturday.

Top scorer Allen says it's so far, so good for the new strike force and his partnership with ex-Leeds man McDaid.

Warrenpoint's Darren Murray was sent off near the end after two bookings in a minute - his second dismissal in 10 days.

Manager Matthew Tipton says one of the striker's yellow cards was for telling a Glens player to hurry up and take a free kick.

In the other Premiership games, Dungannon Swifts beat Ballinamallard 2-0 and Ballymena had a 1-0 victory against Cliftonville, their first win of the season.

Meanwhile, Crusaders and Linfield are through to the last 16 of the Irn-Bru Cup.

The Crues were 3-2 winners against Motherwell under-20s at Seaview and David Healy's men beat the Spartans 2-1 in Edinburgh.

The draw's been made for the third round of the League Cup.

The stand-out tie is Crusaders against Coleraine while holders Ballymena are at home to Portadown.

The matches are on Tuesday October 10th.
