Sean Cavanagh's 16 year inter-county career with Tyrone is to be celebrated in Tipperary next month when he will receive the Mick Doyle Golden Memory Award.
It will be presented at the Canon Hayes National Sports Awards Banquet at the Great National Ballykisteen Hotel on Friday December 8th.
Cavanagh's being awarded in recognition of a remarkable career that saw the 34 year old win medals at Ulster under 18, under 21 and Senior level, All Ireland's at under 18 and senior level as well as McKenna cup and League medals.
He left the inter-county scene with a medal and trophy collection the envy of many GAA players, and only last weekend he added another when helping his Tyrone club the Moy defeat Rostrevor in the Ulster club Intermediate Football Championship final.
The Canon Hayes Award is dedicated to the memory of the late rugby star Mick Doyle who was a member of the Canon Hayes Judging Panel, up until the time of his untimely death in 2004.
The award will be one of many to be presented on the night.
