Sinn Féin has selected 26 year old Órfhlaith Begley to contest the the West Tyrone by-election, after the Westminster seat was left vacant last month when former MP Barry McElduff resigned.
The Carrickmore woman, who's also a solicitor based in Portadown, was chosen at a selection convention held in Omagh yesterday evening (Sunday 25th February).
After the event, Órfhlaith took to social media to say she was "honoured" to have been selected by her party members:
Sinn Féin party leader for Northern Ireland, Michelle O'Neill described her as "articulate, dynamic and strong" and said she is "proud" to support Órfhlaith Begley as the next MP for West Tyrone:
