Mid-Ulster is encouraged to make more use of the Internet.

This is UK Get Online Week.

It runs until Friday.

Around 80 per cent of adults regularly browse the web.

There are a number of different events in libraries around the area.

Cllr James Shiels is encouraging Mid Ulster to go online.

“I am delighted to support the Go ON NI programme which has really tackled issues like digital exclusion head on. Over the last three years, the Go ON NI team has made a real difference in communities across Northern Ireland,” he explains.

He says the Internet is an important channel of communication and source of information, which many of us take for granted everyday tasks that we perform online.

“I want to get as many people as possible online and this initiative is a really effective way of engaging and encouraging those who may feel less comfortable using the internet,” he adds.
