Police in Banbridge have praised members of the public who helped bring an end to a 'hijacking rampage'.
Two men dragged a woman from her car in the Church Square area last night before making making off in the vehicle.
In a post online the PSNI described 'pandemonium' as the car was driven through the town hitting several other cars, including one driven by a pregnant woman.
The vehicle finally crashed at the Newry Road roundabout, where members of the public stepped in.
Officers say the two suspects were held at the scene before response teams arrived.
Both were arrested for hijacking, aggravated vehicle theft, driving when unfit through drink or drugs, and one later for assault on police and resisting arrest.
Police are also investigating the possibility the hijacking was linked to the theft of a charity box which was recovered near The Coach in a bin.
They believe two men were seen a short time before trying to smash it open.
Anyone with information, or who may have dash cam footage, has been asked to contact police.
