Currie's overseen an impressive start to the season for the North Down club
Niall Currie has been awarded the NI football writers' Manager of the Month award for August after his side picked up impressive early wins over Dungannon Swifts, Ballymena United and Portadown. Ards also drew 2-2 with Cliftonville and beat Newry city in the cup. In a remarkable start for the newly-promoted side, Currie only saw his side lose once last month. That defeat came to high-flying Glenavon at Mourneview Park.

At one point Ards led the league, and had the chance to return to the top last weekend against Crusaders. However Crusaders won the game at Seaview with a late Jordan Owens goal. Next up for Currie's side is a home game with Glentoran.
