Linfield have moved six points clear at the top of the Danske Bank Premiership after beating Glentoran 4-2 on Monday night.

The Glens finished with 10 men at Windsor Park as defender Joe Crowe was sent off against his former club.

Before kick-off, it was confirmed Blues keeper Roy Carroll will miss the rest of the season with a cruciate knee ligament injury.

One of Monday night's scorers, Chris Casement, says it's a blow but they have youngster Gareth Deane to stand in for the unfortunate 41-year-old former Northern Ireland star...

Linfield say they intend to bring in a replacement this week to compete with Deane for the number one jersey.

Glenavon have also dipped into the market, signing ex-Limerick midfielder Eoin Wearen on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Meanwhile, Glens midfielder John Herron has denied speculation he could be on the move back to Scotland before the transfer window closes this week.

The former Celtic player insists he's happy at the Oval...

Back to Monday Night Football and it was a thrilling contest live on Sky Sports.

Jordan Stewart gave Linfield the lead in the 36th minute when he scored from the penalty spot.

Calum Birney then deflected a cross into his own net to make it 2-0 to the home side.

Glentoran responded after half-time as Curtis Allen pulled a goal back and Robbie McDaid equalised.

However, Casement restored Linfield's lead before Crowe was sent off for a challenge on Michael O'Connor.

Linfield made sure of victory with four minutes remaining as O'Connor scored their fourth goal.
