The West Brom defender has decided to extend his international career
Northern Ireland's World Cup prospects have received a shot in the arm with Gareth McAuley deciding to continue playing international football for Northern Ireland.
The West Bromich Albion centre back, is almost certain to feature in Michael O'Neill's squad for their opening game of the qualifying campaign against the Czech Republic.
The 36-year old McAuley has made 63 appearances for the international team and will hope to add to that on the 4th September in Prague
The full Northern Ireland squad is set to be announced on Wednesday.
